Glossier's founder Emily Weiss and Walker & Co.'s Tristan Walker are featured as Innovators on the Time 100 Next list -- alongside Artists, Advocates, Leaders, and Phenoms. 

Time posted the cover shown above last week on Instagram, featuring Emily Weiss. The post says, "From reinventing the makeup counter to canonizing the #shelfie, @emilyweiss has helped a generation of consumers feel good about themselves—something the beauty industry has historically failed to do."

Alexis Ohanian, a co-founder of Reddit, and co-founder/managing partner of Initialized Capital, wrote Weiss' profile for Time. She writes, "Although my investment firm, Initialized, is not one of Glossier’s investors, Emily’s ability to build such a fervent customer base is the kind of community-building we search for every day. The Glossier community has inspired creative fan accounts and online micro-communities."

Tristan Walker is founder of Walker and Company brands, makers of Bevel and Form Beauty. Walker and Company was recently acquired by Procter & Gamble, which is highlighted in his profile, which states that the acquisition made Walker the first Black CEO of a P&G subsidiary in the company’s 180-year history. 

More About the Time 100 Next List

The first annual Time 100 Next list, which will appear in the November 25, 2019 issue, highlights the 100 individuals who are shaping the future of their fields. The honorees were celebrated at the Time 100 Next Summit in New York City on November 14, 2019.

Dan Macasi, editorial director of the Time 100, says, “The TIME 100 community is one of the most dynamic leadership communities in the world. We are excited to expand it by spotlighting the world’s most ascendant leaders on the TIME 100 Next list, and to elevate their unique perspectives at the inaugural TIME 100 Next Summit.”

Edward Felsenthal, editor-in-chief and CEO, Time, writes, , "When we first published our TIME 100 list of the world's most influential people 15 years ago, it was dominated by individuals who rose through traditional power structures...Time has always been a barometer of influence—and the nature of influence is changing."

How were the rising stars chosen? There was no age limit, Time states. Alysa Liu, a 14-year-old figure stating champion is the youngest on the list, and Ayman Odeh, a 44-year-old politician, is the oldest.

Time states, "The Time 100 Next members all have grand ambitions, and they know they may face even greater setbacks. But by and large, they are driven by hope." Macasi adds, “They are eager to defy the odds—and fight for a better future.”
