Mario Lopez, actor, and host of NBC's Access Hollywood, joined fragrance industry executives yesterday to host an entertaining online event to reveal this year's Fragrance Foundation Award Finalists—here's the replay.

Linda Levy, president of The Fragrance Foundation (TFF), asked Lopez how he feels about fragrance.

"I'm a big fragrance lover -- huge, ever since I was a kid, by the way. Fragrance has always been an important part of my life..."

Levy asked Lopez, "What is your earliest fragrance memory?"

Lopez said that while growing up, he remembers how good his dad always smelled.

"I distinctly remember he always smelled like Jovan Musk, in that orange bottle...but also all those that you would get in a Rite-Aid, like Brut and Old Spice—and later on, I remember I got him Polo, the old green bottle."

And what was the first fragrance Lopez bought for himself? 

"The first one I think I got on my own was Drakkar Noir—and then it went into, like, Fahrenheit," he says, referring to the Christian Dior fragrance that launched in 1988. "But at my age you'd walk into a club and everyone would smell like that—so then I had to start mixing it up," he says.

Lopez likes to try new fragrances all the time, he tells Levy, adding, "The one that I've probably been most consistent with for the last 20 years-I like Egoiste Platinum by Chanel. And I really like Molecule right now as well," he says, referring to the scents by Escentric Molecules. "They're always my go-to," he says. 

TFF will honor Calice Becker, Vice President Perfumer & Director of the Givaudan Perfumery School with the Lifetime Achievement Perfumer Award; and Philippe Benacin, Chairman and CEO Interparfums, with the Hall of Fame Award at the 2021 Awards on June 10th.

Levy adds, "We value all those nominated, as well as those who reached this important distinction as TFF Awards Finalists. We look forward to presenting a reinvented, exciting, virtual event on June 10th and will share more soon.”
