Beauty marketers know the power of a good story—and that's what has propelled Sue Nabi's career. Nabi took over as CEO of Coty in 2020, overseeing the multibillion-dollar beauty company's brands including Covergirl, Kylie Cosmetics, Gucci, Philosophy—and many more.
Nabi was a guest on "The Path with Ryan Roslansky," a podcast hosted by LinkedIn's CEO, and revealed some of the twists and turns that her career path has taken. She developed a narrative to connect the dots between her degree in biotech and beauty—and landed her first job at L’Oréal.
A key takeaway of the discussion is the importance of mastering the art of storytelling. Nabi reveals how she uses the skill in all aspects of her professional and business life.
Nabi's career spans 30 years, and she says she's grateful for the time it took to get to where she is today, CNBC reports. “Take your time. It’s not your enemy,” she said.
Roslansky posted this career advice from Nabi:
“Life is made of moments that do not look like they’re linked to each other, but in fact, they are,” Nabi said. “Talent is about making them part of the same story.”
