Jamie Matusow: Tell us about Inoac Packaging Group, what is your specialty?
Al Lustrino: Inoac has established itself as the global leader in heavy wall PET blow molding of both bottles and jars. To complement the superior quality of these packages, we have developed many in-house decoration processes such as silk screening, hot stamping, spray painting, heat transfer labeling and pressure sensitive labeling. With manufacturing sites in Bardstown, KY and Monterrey, Mexico we are strategically located to support the North American market with regional manufacturing. Our facility in Shanghai, China supports the Asian region although all our facilities currently export around the globe.
JM: With a growing push toward sustainable packaging, how has Inoac evolved?
AL: Inoac has manufactured packages utilizing PCR resins for many years. With the increased demand for sustainable options, Inoac has worked with our resin suppliers to develop PCR materials that not only meet sustainability goals but also maintain both the esthetic and performance characteristics of existing packages. Inoac is the first NA blow molder that is ISCC certified allowing us to manufacture packages utilizing the Eastman Renew Molecular Recycled materials.
Additionally, Inoac is now offering standard wall thickness bottles as a way to reduce the amount of plastic contained in each package. Although these packages contain less plastic they are manufactured utilizing the same high-quality processes and can be decorated utilizing most of our existing heavy wall decorating technologies.
JM: What makes you stand out from your competitors?
AL: Inoac stands out among blow molders because of both our technology and quality. In addition to having developed the technology that allows for heavy wall blow molding, Inoac has invested heavily in our manufacturing quality processes that result in a much higher quality product. Through the use of automation and automated quality checks, every bottle produced is guaranteed to exceed our clients’ expectations.
JM: What does the future of sustainability look like at Inoac?
AL: Although we have led the way in the adoption of the Molecular Recycled resins, we are not stopping our pursuit towards a circular supply of plastic packaging. We are continuing to explore other materials and processes that will further this challenge. As these efforts begin to materialize and we feel confident in the impact they will have we will continue to introduce them to the brands we support and new clients.
