Based in Webb City, Missouri, ProSys is a premier manufacturer of semiautomatic and fully automatic equipment for filling Squeeze Tubes, Syringes, Airless Pumps, Jars, Bottles, Cartridges and Custom Containers for the Cosmetic Industry. In business since 1985, their added production space and strategic alliances have allowed them to offer a larger variety of products such as hot melt applications, labeling systems and complete turnkey lines.
Here, Acyr Borges, Managing Director, tells Beauty Packaging how the company’s expanded capabilities, vast experience and state-of-the-art engineering and machinery help to alleviate labor shortages and supply chain challenges to get to market faster.
Borges says ProSys delivers systems that provide “much-needed flexibility” to companies filling and packing multiple containers, in one case adding an upstream tube labeler, allowing the customer to use blank tubes instead of hard-to-find and long lead-time printed-on ones.
Jamie Matusow: Can you tell us a little about ProSys? What is your specialty?
Acyr Borges: Our specialty is filling of high-viscosity materials creams and lotions, but we also cover the low viscosity needs of our customers in the cosmetic industry.
JM: What makes ProSys stand out from the other suppliers as far as your categories/services?
AB: It’s no secret that the vast majority of customers are facing labor shortages and there are still supply chain constraints—just to name a couple of issues.
But there isn’t one single aspect, instead, a combination of factors such as the combined experience of our team, the quality of the design and engineering applied to our machines, with the features that our customers actually need such as accuracy, flexibility and operational reliability. This, together with our ability to integrate different partners and deliver a seamless solution make us fairly unique in the market.
JM: How has your company evolved over the past few years regarding your
services/offerings?
AB: We departed from offering just one machine in the packaging line to offering integrated solutions to our customers. Additionally, we completed an expansion back in August 2022 that added a much-needed production capacity—which worked together with the ability to integrate
complete turnkey lines.
JM: Is ProSys now more involved in full service/turnkey?
AB: As mentioned, yes, we are now a full service/turnkey-like provider.
JM: Any product/collection you are most proud of?
AB: We can’t mention a name due to signed NDAs, but we deliver a system that provides a much-needed flexibility to a company filling and packing multiple tubes, adding a labeled upstream from the tube filler, thus allowing the customer to use blank tubes instead of hard-to- find and long-lead-time printed-on ones.
JM: Briefly describe a recent innovative or challenging product that you produced and
how it reflects your expertise.
AB: A very illustrative example is what we are currently working on with a major brand owner where we were called in at the beginning of their process and offered a unique solution to pre-assemble components prior to filling.
JM: What’s next for ProSys?
AB: Keep on working on innovative, flexible, more efficient designs using more automation and allowing customers to do more with less.
