Beauty Industry West (BIW), the west coast-based beauty trade organization, is presenting the biennial Legend of the Year Award to Dr. Howard Murad, CEO of Murad, Inc., for his significant contributions to the beauty and health industries.
BIW will grant the award to Murad at a luncheon event on June 15, 2011, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel–LAX. Murad is being recognized for pioneering the Inclusive Health approach to comprehensive health and well-being that tackles cellular restoration through a three-pronged process - Topical Care, Internal Care and Emotional Self-Care, for creating one of the first medically supervised spas, and for developing innovative technologies and scientifically-proven formulas for complete skin and body wellness.
A board-certified dermatologist, trained pharmacist, and associate clinical professor of medicine at the Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA, Murad founded Murad, Inc. in 1989 as a way to share his skin care formulas to help users achieve significant measurable anti-aging results without surgery. Murad continues his research and holds 18 patents for advances in the science of skin health.
As a 2011 inductee, Murad joins past receipts of the BIW Legend of the Year Award such as Annette Green, founder of The Fragrance Foundation and Aida Thibiant of Aida Thibiant Skin Care and Thibiant International.
