Jim and Cheryl Markham, Founders of ColorProof Evolved Color Care, were awarded the Beauty Industry West Entrepreneur of the Year Award at yesterday's luncheon at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. Over the course of Jim and Cheryl Markham’s careers they have founded four successful hair care companies, and more than 300 formulas – Sebring, Markham, ABBA Pure and Natural, and his most recent endeavor, PureOlogy Serious Colour Care, the first luxury line of products for color-treated hair. They are continuing their track record with the introduction of ColorProof Evolved Color Care.
Jim Markham began his career in the beauty industry as a celebrity stylist whose client list included Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Johnny Carson, Frank Sinatra, and Robert Redford. His entrepreneurial spirit drove him to create companies that delivered products that fill a need in the market. With each venture Cheryl has been an integral business partner and collaborator. Jim has been awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year for Ernst & Young for consumer products, and was inducted into their Hall of Fame, as well as into the Professional Beauty Association’s (PBA) North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) Hall of Leaders where he was acknowledged for his outstanding and lifelong achievements within the Industry. Jim was also recognized as Entrepreneur of the Year by Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors (ICMAD) in 2002and the Orange County Business Journal in 2007.
