Walmart is on the lookout for American made products. It’s all part of the giant retailer’s pledge to create more American jobs by committing to purchase an additional $250 billion over a 10-year period from companies manufacturing in the U.S.
One of the latest beneficiaries of the program is a beauty company. Moore Unique Skin Care, a Houston based, African American owned company just received notice that Walmart has agreed to carry three of its products through the Walmart "Made in the USA" program.
The products, created by Dr. Milton D. Moore, a prominent Houston dermatologist and pharmacist are Hydroglide Ascend Shave Gel, Razor Rash Relief Cream, and Clear Skin Acne Wash. They will be available on select Walmart shelves in late January 2015.
Because Dr. Moore once suffered from razor bumps and burn, he decided to find a solution. As a result he developed Moore Unique Razor Rash Relief.
He says up to 60% of African American and 15% of white men suffer from pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB) a condition commonly known as “razor bumps.” This condition causes the skin to be inflamed and infected because of shaving hairs, especially curly hair which grows back into the skin, which can cause scarring and discoloration in the beard and neck area.
Dr. Moore went on to develop a number of products for men and women—all manufactured and distributed out of Houston, Texas, USA.
Moore says, “Our goal is expand the line into other beauty and personal care items and distribute them to the masses on a global level.”
