Dermalogica has launched a new anti-aging product - Overnight Retinol Repair, in a tube, which is shown above. The product claims to accelerate skin renewal, reverse the signs of photo-aging, improve skin tone, and increase skin firmness.
The new launch includes one 1.0oz/30 mL tube of Overnight Retinol Repair and one 0.5oz/ 15 mL tube of Buffer Cream. The Buffer Cream allows users to customize the concentration of retinol applied ot the skin - and the brand says it is the first-ever retinol treatment to offer this option during application. Since retinol has the potential to irritate the skin, starting with a mix of one part Overnight Retinol Repair to three parts Buffer Cream will minimize any adverse effects. Buffer Cream contains 8% aloe vera extract, to soothe and moisturize.
Overnight Retinol Repair contains 0.5% retinol, pure Vitamin A, which has been demonstrated to reverse both the signs of intrinsic aging (genetics) as well as extrinsic aging (environmental). It is encapsualted, since the retinol molecule on its own is chemically unstable and will degrade with exposure to sunlight and air. The microencapsulation technology also allows for a controlled-release delivery system which enables the active retinol to penetrate deeply into the skin for optimum results.
