Pujolasoa, a supplier based in Spain that specializes in manufacturing wood packaging for luxury firms, has announced it has obtained the use of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) seal.
The FSC certification guarantees that its wood is sourced from a sustainable forest. The supplier already has PEFC and ISO 9001:2008 certifications. The company guarantees it is buying products and raw materials from controlled forests.
Pujolasos emphasizes the importance of a supervised exploitation of forests, and intends to do its part to help contribute to the preservation of biodiversity. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Spain has 27.7 million hectares of forest area, the equivalent of 54.8% of its territory. As the latest data state, during the 2005-2011 period average anual wood production was 16,5M cubic meters (around 3.6% of EU production).
