Kiehl's Since 185 has been a long-time supporter of HIV/AIDS charities, and the brand is proud to announce that this year's annual Kiehl's LifeRide for amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, has been its most successful fund-raising effort, ever. (Andm there's this new book to commemorate the special year).
The sixth annual Kiehl's LifeRide for amfAR just ended - and raised more than $263,000.
For the first time ever, Kiehl's and amfAR partnered with CrowdRise to allow riders to engage in social fundraising, and these efforts proved to be successful. This allowed even those not along the LifeRide route to join the ride by donating to the celebrity rider of their choice. And - AmfAR's most generous donors agreed to match all CrowdRise gifts dollar for dollar.
Beyond CrowdRise, Kiehl's customers donated an impressive $7,000 in conjunction with purchases. Kiehl's retail partners Dillard's and Niemen Marcus also fundraised for amfAR on their own to present a few riders with surprise checks of $10,000 and $1,500 respectively.
Chris Salgardo (shown above on right), Kiehl's USA President, said, "I'm so proud of all the riders' efforts to raise more money than we ever have before to help make AIDS history."
Actor Gilles Marini (shown above on left, with fellow rider) commented, "Fundraising through LifeRide is an extreme sport, but in all seriousness, doing things for others and putting our effort toward a world without AIDS is to me something that I am proud and honored to be part of."
Actor Tricia Helfer said, "Although each LifeRide is incredibly fun, being a direct part of raising money for the fight for a cure is so much more fulfilling."
Kevin Robert Frost, amfAR Chief Executive Officer, added, "There has never been a more optimistic time in AIDS research, and our continued progress is made possible by people who believe that we can, and will, find a cure for HIV."
