Mumbai-headquartered Piramal Glass Ltd recently announced positive results for the first half of the financial year 2015-16 (beginning April 1, 2015) with a revenue growth of 14% and EBITDA margin of 21%.
Piramal Glass is a diversified molded-glass packaging manufacturer with plants in India, Sri Lanka and the USA.
According to the company, they are the global leader in nail enamel containers and a primary supplier to almost all leading beauty products manufacturers. With 5 furnaces, they have perhaps the largest installed capacity for glass containers in cosmetics, fragrance and personal care, and have announced plans to invest approximately $85 million during the next 12 months to update their facilities with state-of-the-art infrastructure. This includes expansion of capacity for “select perfume bottles” and increasing glass decoration capacity by adding “coating” and “metallization” lines.
Mr. Vijay Shah, director said, “We are excited with the progress we have made in the short period of time and are upgrading the infrastructure to prepare for the future.”
Mr. Niraj Tipre, COO said, “Apart from investing in new equipment, we are investing in our human resources for upcoming opportunities.”
Piramal Glass belongs to the cash-strong, Ajay Piramal Group of companies. In addition to beauty packaging, they are a leading supplier of molded amber glass containers for the Pharma industry, and among the top companies in the world with the capabilities to produce Borosilicate Type-I molded glass containers.
Piramal Glass acquired the Personal Care assets of Wheaton Glass in 2005 and says it has successfully turned around the U.S. operations.
The investment plans of the group include the modernization of Piramal Glass USA’s Park Hills, MO, plant for continued growth in the “specialty spirits’’ segment.
