According to Profitero, a survey by AT Kearney found that 73% of consumers said that Amazon is their top destination for beauty products – whether that be to research or actually purchase beauty products.

Profitero analysis shows that some of the fastest moving brands and products in key categories such as beauty are emerging brands online – and not necessarily the incumbent market leader in the brick-and-mortar channel. The market researcher says “these brands have nothing to lose by investing aggressively online—establishing a compelling foothold and starting to displace ‘traditional’ leaders in the physical world.”
At Amazon, Profitero analysts say they see that customer reviews are key drivers of product sales, especially in the beauty category, with the average number of beauty product reviews increasing by 16% to 2,620 between December 2015 and January 2016.
For instance, Profitero data shows that an average of 3,087 customer reviews has helped make ArtNaturals the best-selling beauty brand on Amazon, while Pure Body Naturals (which was ranked as the third best-selling beauty brand on Amazon in January 2016) received 4,709 reviews. Both, according to Profitero, are beauty firms that are committed to using 100% natural ingredients, and great examples of emerging beauty brands online.
