Christian Louboutin will launch a line of super-shiny lip lacquer called Loubilaque on July 1st - and each glossy color will retail for $85.
The packaging is gorgeous. The highly pigmented colors are showcased in clear bottles, which are topped off with a gold crown-shaped metal cap. Its the same shape package as Louboutin's lipstick range.
According to the press release, the lip color was inspired by the designer's "longstanding love affair with lacquer.” It continues, “Not only did red nail lacquer inspire the red sole, but he has long admired the mirror-like surface of Chinese and Japanese lacquers. For his designs, he has often turned to the most brilliant of leathers, patent, to create iconic accessories with the shiniest of finishes.”
The lacquer is formulated to stay creamy, not sticky, when applied. Like Louboutin's lipstick, the lip gloss cap has a ring, threaded with a ribbon, to hang it conveniently around your neck as a pendant, for easy access.
The product line will launch with eight shades in nude, pink and red, including the brand's signature red, of course - Rouge Loubotin.
Louboutin first crossed over into beauty with his nail polish - and its ultra-luxurious packaging.
