Counter Brands, LLC, parent company of Beautycounter, which is based in Santa Monica, California, along with its founder, Greg Renfrew, has struck a deal to purchase NUDE Skincare from LVMH.
NUDE was founded by Ali Hewson - who happens to be the wife of famous musician Bono. LVMH purchased the UK-based brand in 2011. Hewson will join Counter Brands' board, and both she and Bono will become investors in the company. Headquarters for both brands will be in the U.S., close to Los Angeles, and UK offices near London.

It appears to be the ideal partnership - Beautycounter is known for its trademarked "Never List" of more than 1,500 ingredients banned when creating its products; while NUDE is known for its trademarked "Beautiful Without" formulation standards.
Hewson said, "We created NUDE because we wanted to develop beauty products that are as safe and natural as they are effective. In Beautycounter, we found our company's soul mate. I couldn't be more thrilled about NUDE's partnership with Beautycounter and I am looking forward to working closely with Gregg and her team. Their commitment to transparency in ingredients is second to none and I hope it will soon be par for the course for more companies."
Beautycounter is a Certified B Corporation that launched in 2013. The company develops and distributes nearly 100 products, including skincare and color cosmetics, which are sold through 20,000+ independent consultants across North America, on its website, and within specialty retail locations. The brand has a limited edition collection launching at Target stores in September 2016.
Renfrew commented, "Our mission is to get safer, high-performing products into the hands of everyone, and this acquisition advances that goal. Ali and her team at NUDE share the same unwavering commitment to education, safer products, and better laws that will move the beauty industry forward worldwide. I am excited for what the future holds."
