Packaging designers from around the world have a chance to be honored at the 2018 Pentawards Gala Ceremony which will be held September 6th at New York City’s Solomon R. Guggenheim—one of the most iconic art museums on the planet.
Entries for the 12th edition of the Pentawards will open on February 5 and extend until March 23.
Created in 2007, the Pentawards is considered to be one of the most prestigious worldwide competitions, devoted exclusively to packaging design. Each year, packaging from around the world is submitted and judged by an international jury of 12 respected designers, packaging design directors and marketing chiefs from major global brands.
Adam Ryan, project manager at The Pentawards, comments: “We are delighted that our 12th Gala ceremony will be held at the world-renowned Guggenheim Museum in New York. We have been to some phenomenal places with the awards, but none more so than this. Selecting the Guggenheim Museum as our venue signifies the growth we have experienced over the last few years, the sheer scale of the ambition we have for the Pentawards and, of course, their prestige. The Guggenheim Museum will provide the perfect stage to crown the very best designers in the world, and to put the global spotlight on packaging design.”
There are five main award categories: Food, Beverages, Body, Luxury and Other Markets; these are then split into 55 sub categories. For the 2017 awards, there were 2,013 entries from 5 continents and 54 countries.
The winners receive bronze, silver, gold and platinum Pentawards. The ‘Best of the Show’ receives the unique Diamond Pentaward. Each year, trophies are awarded in a different city in Europe, Asia or the Americas, at an official ceremony which hosts hundreds of designers from around the world, and provides a unique opportunity to meet and exchange ideas.
