HCP Packaging Group has begun construction on the planned initial phase of a manufacturing expansion project at its Rusi site in Bechhofen, in the district of Ansbach, Bavaria, Germany.
A ground-breaking ceremony was held to celebrate the multi-year, multi-phase expansion investment. The event was attended by the Deputy County Commissioner of Ansbach, Mr. Stefan Horndasch, regional and local dignitaries including the Mayor Mr. Helmut Schnotz, the Rusi sales and operations teams, along with senior representatives of HCP’s global management team from France, UK and China.
Mr. Klaus Sindel, whose family founded the company in 1976, opened the proceedings by welcoming the visitors and thanking the Rusi team for their commitment to an ongoing legacy of excellent customer service.
The expansion program involves the addition of two new production buildings on the existing Rusi site, installation of new equipment for injection molding and decoration of cosmetics packaging, which will increase the existing annual manufacturing capacity by over 60%.
Expected to be fully operational by October 2018, HCP says this investment demonstrates its long- term commitment to make Rusi Germany the hub of its European manufacturing platform for the long-term, bringing additional employment opportunities to the region.
With the acquisition of Rusi combined with the innovative capability for high-precision micro- injected components by Paris-based SIMP (acquired by HCP in 2016) coupled with strong mascara expertise in North America and China, HCP says it can now offer very compelling full-pack mascara solutions fully made in Europe.
HCP’s CEO Mr Eddy Wu highlighted that this—and subsequent planned investments at Rusi —further demonstrates HCP’s commitment to regional manufacturing of a very significant share of the company’s products sold in Europe.
