The Better Skin Co. is hitting the shelves at more than 1,000 Ulta stores this week nationwide. The Better Skin Co. is known for its Mirakle Cream "Genius in a Jar."
The indie brand was co-founded two years ago by beauty industry alum Murphy Bishop and his partner, aesthetician Natalya Rachkova. Rachkova brought her secret skincare recipe to the U.S. when she emigrated from The Republic of Uzbekistan to Seattle, WA.
When they met, Bishop soon learned that Rachkova had a side business selling her old country "miracle" cream out of her kitchen, and customers came in droves to buy it. He tried the cream, fell in love with it, and convinced Rachkova to let him help her turn her passion for skincare into a real business.
Bishop comments on the brand's deal with Ulta, saying, "It means that indie brands can compete with big brands driven by big budgets. If you have a great story, great brand fans, and steady sales growth—there's a chance for you."
Rachkova adds, "I came to America. I worked 12 hours a day, and here we are...We're in Ulta. If I can do it, anybody can do it."
