The Estée Lauder Companies has made Barron's list of The 100 Most Sustainable Companies in the U.S.
Barron's second annual sustainability ranking is compiled by Calvert Research and Management. The rankings are based on hundreds of metrics that address environmental, social, and corporate governance, or ESG, factors, Barron's states. Calvert CEO John Streur commented, “Companies can be differentiated based on how well they manage their environmental and social impact, and the strength of their governance. The list shows who’s creating a better company, long term, for long-term investors.”
ELC is ranked at #45 on the overall list, but jumps ahead to #5 when the companies are categorized by industry. Shown in the chart above, ELC is #5 on the list of "Top 5 Consumer Staples."
The team at ELC states that the company is "committed to building a more beautiful and sustainable world for our employees, consumers and communities through our corporate citizenship and environmental stewardship."
An ELC spokesperson continues, "We are proud Barron’s has recognized us as one of the Top 100 Most Sustainable Companies in the U.S."
And -- congratulations to Colgate-Palmolive, which comes in at #3, and ranks #19 on the overall list.
