According to numerous media reports on February 19, German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has died in Paris at the age of 85.
Lagerfeld was the iconic creative designer for Chanel, but also designed for fashion house Fendi as well as for his own brand. The designer had reportedly been ill and had missed several fashion shows—including a bow at the end of his most recent show for Chanel—in the last few weeks.
Chanel confirmed his passing and revealed that the designer’s “longtime right-hand woman” Virginie Viard will be his successor. Chanel will be issuing a statement.
