Thrive Causemetics has announced it is celebrating its fourth anniversary by making its largest-ever donation -- $25 million -- to women in need across the country.
Thrive Causemetics is a Los Angeles-based vegan, cruelty-free makeup company founded by Karissa Bodnar, CEO, in her Seattle apartment in 2015.
Giving has been at the heart of Thrive's work from day one—when Karissa sold her first set of lashes, she immediately donated a pair. Since then, through its "Beauty with a Purpose" program, the company ensures that a donation is made for every product sold.
"Everyone who purchases a product becomes part of our mission to give back—and after four years of building a compassionate community, we've created a movement to empower women through beauty," Bodnar said. "We are proud to partner with incredible organizations across the country to bring the power of beauty to every woman, no matter what challenges they face."
This gift will benefit over 50 non-profit organizations that empower women who are fighting cancer, surviving domestic abuse or emerging from homelessness. The beauty brand is also asking members of the #ThriveTribe—Thrive's enthusiastic customers and supporters—to nominate future recipients.
One of the recipient organizations, Mary's Place, is from Bodnar's home state of Washington. The organization offers women and families a safe place and a path out of homelessness.
"We are very excited about our partnership with Thrive Causemetics," Mary's Place Executive Director Marty Hartman said. "Women experiencing homelessness often feel invisible and worthless. We're grateful to Thrive for bringing hope and for helping our women regain their self-confidence and thrive."
