BillerudKorsnäs continues to lead the containers and packaging industry in Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) based on its total sustainability score in 2019. The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) and RobecoSAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) are annual evaluations of companies’ sustainability performance. Each year over 3,400 listed companies around the world are analyzed and the top 10 percent are included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index.
BillerudKorsnäs is once again the industry leader in the category Containers & Packaging and is included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index. The company achieved industry top scores in 11 categories including climate strategy, supply chain management and human capital development. Containers and packaging companies are critical to the global economy and supply virtually every sector with tools to effectively protect, transport, market, and preserve their products for sale and use.
Malin Ljung Eiborn, director sustainability & public affairs commented, “It is a great honor for us to continue being named the most sustainable packaging company and one of the most sustainable companies in the world. This is further proof that we are leading the challenge on conventional packaging for a sustainable future. By participating in the assessment, we also get valuable insights into where we need to accelerate our efforts.”
Manjit Jus, head of ESG Ratings, RobecoSAM said, “We congratulate BillerudKorsnäs for being included in the DJSI World and DJSI Europe. The SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment has again raised the bar in identifying those companies best-positioned to address future sustainability challenges and opportunities. This year—which marks the 20th anniversary of the DJSI—record corporate interest in the SAM CSA reflects the enduring relevance of the DJSI for measuring and advancing ESG practices."
