Arkay Packaging has announced its purchase of the Primefire 106, the first commercially available industrial inkjet digital printing system in the 70 x 100 (40-in.) format. With its impressive capabilities, the Primefire 106 – recipient of the 2018 InterTech Technology Award – offers the highest quality 1,200 x 1,200 dpi and is designed to achieve volumes of up to 1.5 million sheets per month. Additionally, all inks are water-based, low migration, and environmentally sustainable.
The Primefire 106 has the ability to match offset print quality, giving customers the option of printing digitally or offset, based on job length. Its seven-color inkjet system covers up to 95% of the Pantone color space with multicolor technology.
“Through Arkay’s purchase of the Drupa Model Heidelberg Primefire digital printing press, we enter the multicolor digital printing market,” comments Arkay COO Walter Shiels. “At Arkay we are highly motivated to enhance, develop, and lead into the future with the newest available digital technologies for package printing.”
Arkay looks forward to the installation of the Primefire 106 in its Roanoke, VA, plant in March 2020.
