When Eco Lips founder, Steve Shriver, realized there was a shortage of hand sanitizer in Eastern Iowa in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, he teamed up with Dr. Ryan Sundermann and Cedar Ridge Distillery to tackle the issue. Together, using a simple recipe, they made 1000 four-ounce bottles to distribute for free to the public via drive-through.
When asked why he decided to do this, Shriver explained, "I saw the need and pulled together resources to pull this off. It just made sense."
Hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol is an alternative for when soap and water aren’t available. The sanitizer being made is 65 percent alcohol.
Shriver says they will continue to provide sanitizer for as long as there is a shortage, but they would prefer to give it out to people who really need it. Updates on production and future locations can be found on Facebook.
