E.T. Browne Drug Co., a small family business that manufactures Palmer's, has joined the fight against COVID-19. The company is now manufacturing medical-grade hand sanitizer, as it helps ease the shortage.
Palmer’s manufacturing facility in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Hayward Labs, has switched over its lines for hand sanitizer production. The first batch is ready for immediate distribution, the company announced, and will supply local medical first responders and U.S. military personnel.
The medical-grade product was developed by Palmer's R&D team, with the help of 280 manufacturing employees at Hayward Labs.
The sanitizers will be donated to emergency medical responders in the Monroe County, Pennsylvania and Bergen County, New Jersey areas, which is where they currently operate. They will also be provided to U.S. Military personnel and their families through commissaries and exchanges.
Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) is a key ingredient in the product, and it has been in short supply during the coronavirus pandemic, -- but E.T Browne says it is grateful that Exxon Mobil responded quickly to help. Exxon is the largest producer of Isopropyl Alcohol in the United States.
Antone McIntyre, Director of Manufacturing at Hayward says, "As a Pennsylvania-based manufacturer, we want to give back on both a national and local level and support the community that has been there for us for over 25 years."
McIntyre continues, "Not only will our sanitizer benefit workers on the frontlines, but it will also support our local neighborhood and secure jobs for our 300 employees who need to take care of their families during this pandemic."
