Benefit Cosmetics launched its eyebrow virtual try-on tool on its website last year -- but now WeChat users can experience the app.
The service is the first of its kind in WeChat mini programs. It will allow Benefit's online shoppers in China, on WeChat, to experience Perfect Corp.'s YouCam-powered real-time virtual Brow Try-On -- to instantly find the right eyebrow shapes and styles for their faces. WeChat has over a billion users in China.
In addition to experimenting with different brow styles, the interactive virtual tool goes a step further by allowing users to book an appointment through WeChat at one of the Benefit’s BrowBars. The desired look can be recreated by a Benefit beauty expert.
Benefit’s SVP Global Digital, Toto Haba says, "Given the explosive growth in e-Commerce, this ability to 'try on' products online have become crucial in the beauty arena. We are hoping that Benefit’s Brow Try-On experience will give customers the ability to see our products and services on their own faces while removing one of the last barriers to buying or booking an appointment online.”
Is Beauty Tech the Future?
Perfect Corp.'s advanced facial-point detection combined with digital color blending technologies create a true-to-life personalized AR try-on experience.
Perfect Corp. CEO and founder, Alice Chang, says, "AR+AI beauty technology can create interactive experiences that add value for beauty brands and personalize shopping process for consumers."
Chang adds, "We’re excited to partner with Benefit Cosmetics to launch and expand the innovative and hyper-realistic virtual Brow Try-On solution to the brand’s WeChat mini program, and help Benefit realize its omnichannel strategy to bring the experience to all consumers across all channels.”
In addition to WeChat, Benefit provides the Brow Try-On through other channels in select markets, including a browser-based experience, YouCam Makeup in-app listing, and retail partners’ websites.
