Marc Rey, president and CEO of Shiseido Americas, has resigned from the Japanese beauty giant, and will officially leave the company on September 6. He also serves as chief growth officer of Shiseido Group. The former Coty and L'Oréal executive joined joining Shiseido in 2015 as president of Prestige Cosmetics. During his time at Shiseido he oversaw the acquisitions of Laura Mercier and Drunk Elephant.
Ron Gee, chief financial officer and global M&A leader of Shiseido Americas, has been named as interim CEO.
Sales in the Americas dropped by 65.6% in Q2, the biggest fall of all Shiseido markets, largely due to Covid-19 circumstances and the shuttering of brick-and-mortar retailers.
No reason was given for Rey’s resignation.
