Loop, the global circular shopping platform launched last year by TerraCycle, is now available in every zip code across the U.S., in 48 states. And it's a major advancement in sustainable packaging solutions -- and a win for the planet.
Marking a milestone for Loop, the platform’s initial pilot phase has expanded to an unlimited number of users nationwide. And it means consumers want to be a part of the circular shopping movement, and they're willing to do their part and use less single-use plastic.
Tom Szaky, founder and CEO of Loop and TerraCycle, says, “Consumers across the country have urged us to bring Loop to them so we’ve scaled as quickly as possible to make that happen. With consumers shopping more and more online this year, the need for our sustainable, waste-free solution has become even more important."
How Loop Works
Loop's circular shopping platform means consumers no longer own a package -- only the product. The manufacturer retains ownership of the packaging. Rather than refill empty packages, Loop's brand partners replace them. Consumers return their empty package (for someone else to use) when a new product shipment arrives.Loop products are "reimagined from the inside out," allowing consumers to reduce their environmental impact, while also experiencing familiar products in a completely new way.
The packaging is designed to be "counter-worthy" -- and beautiful. It's made to last -- and must be durable enough to be refilled and withstand multiple uses.
More convenient return options will be announced soon.
Where Is Loop Available?
Loop is available solely online today. It will be available in-store when it is embedded in its retail partners' brick and mortar spaces in 2021.Next year, consumers will be able to shop for Loop products in select Kroger stores in the U.S. Also in 2021, Loop is scheduled to expand to Canada, Australia, and Japan.
A Growing Shopping Movement
Since its launch in 2019, Loop has seen substantial growth in its brand partners and product assortment – now with over 80 brands and 400 products globally and more than 100,000 people signed up for the service. From global companies such as Unilever and Nature’s Path to independently owned businesses -- brands of all sizes in multiple categories have joined Loop, and are rethinking their packaging to make it durable.
Loop's beauty brand partners include Beauty and Planet, Pantene, The Body Shop, REN Skincare - and more.
