HCP Group — and key members of its global team — recently presented its latest innovations and spring/summer 2021 trends for beauty packaging during an online presentation.
The speakers were:
- Eric Firmin, President of HCP France and Head of Sales, HCP Germany
- Cheryl Morgan, Creative Marketing Manager, HCP Group
- Andrea Lupini, Marketing Assistant, HCP Germany
- Robert Reseneder, Plant Manager, HCP Germany
HCP Group focuses on "quality, creativity, and operational excellence," says Eric Firmin, president and head of sales. HCP Germany is the company's packaging division.
Last year, the company worked with more than 250 brands - and produced: 249 million lipsticks, 102 million compacts, 142 million mascara packs, 126 million lip gloss packs, and more.
HCP Group supplies products and packaging for cosmetics — including makeup, skin care, and more. Its expertise is in mascara, eyeliner, lipstick, compacts, bottles, closures, and jars.
One of its specialties in mascara is its 'Twist & Cut' fiber brush technology, produced at its Lash Studio in North America. A recent launch (shown above, left) is Homme "Manscara and Guyliner," a double-ended package designed to deliver just the right amount of product to create a subtle look for men.
Through its exclusive partnership with Pum-Tech Korea, HCP offers brands airless packaging with world-class dispensing technology for cosmetics and skincare.
The company also offers beauty brands an extensive selection of stock packaging, which can be customized with a vast section of decorating options.
HCP's Spring/Summer 2021 Beauty Packaging Trends
HCP Group's trends for beauty packaging for spring/summer 2021 include Rose Luxe, Hush, Midas, Rose Luxe, Hypnotize, Neon Flash, and Festive Minis."Our trend ranges showcase packaging produced across HCP Group. We included a mixture of packaging produced in Germany and China, paired with brushes from our U.S. facilities," says Cheryl Morgan, Creative Marketing Manager.
The Rose Luxe trend (shown above, far right), has an ultra-feminine feel with a floral aesthetic. "In this range, we are introducing a few innovative finishes," says Morgan. Decorations include a 3D Diamond Effect, shown on its Magnum mascara; a double anodization technique on a cap to show a high shine and matte metallic contrast; and a full-wrap seamless heat-transfer label on a lipstick.
Many of the compacts in HCP's stock ranges, including those shown in the Rose Luxe collection, feature a 2-piece cover construction with a recess. "This is so that a decorative top plate can be applied," Morgan says. She describes one of these compacts, included in this collection, saying, "It has a stunning quartz effect, inspired by jewels and gemstones."
The Midas' Golden Touch' trend (shown in slide two above) features luxe metallic looks, including "ultra-glam finishes and high-shine metallics," Morgan says. "We are featuring a fairly structural vintage-inspired aesthetic that we're seeing a lot in packaging at the moment. It is quite unapologetically lavish — high-shine finishes, satin, and layered decoration," she adds. This trend collection also includes decorative touches, such as lasered artwork and faceted features that emulate jewels and precious stones. "It has an art deco sensibility with fluted designs," Morgan adds.
The Hush trend showcases its sustainable options, including compacts made with Eco Wood (more about this material is below.) This trend also includes paper palettes, packages made from PCR, and refillable designs.
The Hypnotize trend collection features packaging decorated with color-shift finishes, prismatic coatings, and a new technique called Magnetic Print.
The Neon Flash collection, inspired by the 80s and 90s, includes ombre neon lashes and Fusion Gloss Lip Gloss, a pack that is also ideal for highlighter or eye products.
The Festive Minis range showcases mini packaging, including lipstick, compacts, and jars, which can be decorated to match its full-size counterparts. "3D Glitter, a Flip Tone Effect, Crystal Glaze, and velvet-smooth soft-touch metallics are a few of the decorative effects we offer for minis," says Morgan.
HCP's New Sustainable Packaging Options
The HCP team says it continually strives to follow the principles of 'reduce and recycle' and announced a new initiative — a partnership with Ocean Waste Plastics. "We will share more on this in the coming months," says Morgan. HCP also offers numerous packaging options in PCR, to reduce the use of virgin materials.Morgan also announced the debut of HCP's new mono-material aluminum lipstick package, which is optimized for recycling (More about this lipstick is in our upcoming feature article in our next issue.)
HCP's Eco Wood is another one of its sustainable innovations. "It's a bio-based material that is an alternative to traditional plastic. It can run on conventional molding machines and can be decorated in various colors," explains Morgan.
HCP's team often works closely with brands to achieve the common goal of developing more sustainable types of packaging. "We bring eco-production to the forefront of everything we do," says Morgan. "We are committed to finding the designs, materials, and manufacturing processes that will raise the bar for sustainability in our industry," she adds.
