Online beauty discovery platform Cosmetify released its latest Cosmetify Index report — revealing 2020's most searched brands, the year’s most powerful beauty influencers, each country's most-searched beauty brand, and more.
Cosmetify also released its rankings for Q3, July through September 2020, in its latest report.
Here are the highlights.
Hottest Beauty Brands of 2020 in the World
The Cosmetify Index ranked the hottest beauty brands of 2020 based on Instagram followers, Instagram engagement, Instagram Mentions, Google search volume and change in search volume.They are:
- HUDA BEAUTY: 47.9m IG followers, 27 million hashtag mentions
- ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS: 24m+ social media users posted about their products
- MAC COSMETICS: 23.4m IG followers
- THE BODY SHOP: Also the most searched for beauty brand in the world for Q3, with over 8.2m searches July through September
- FLORENCE BY MILLS: Has the highest level of social engagement, 4.41%
- L’OREAL PARIS: Grew their IG following by 750k during the pandemic
- YVES ROCHER: Just lost the title of most-searched beauty brand in the world
- COLOURPOP COSMETICS: Searches increased by 5.8% in Q3
- PÜR: Searches increased by an incredible 338% in Q3
- MORPHE: Ranks 6th for most searched brand of the year, with over 3m searches

- KITSCH: Best known for its designer hair products -- but their stylish, cotton face masks were a huge hit during the pandemic
- MERCI HANDY: Colorful hand gels made using clean ingredients that are in high demand right now
Most Powerful Beauty Influencers
- HUDA KATTAN: 52m combined followers on IG & YouTube. Boasts highest potential earnings, with nearly $150k per sponsored IG post, according to Influencer Marketing Hub
- JAMES CHARLES: Increased followers by 40% during Q3
- BRETMAN ROCK: Followers are growing steadily at a rate of 9%
