The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) says it is bringing its 75-year legacy 'into the future' this Earth Month— and taking its commitments to the next level.
ELC's new "Beauty Inspired, Values Driven" promise is a commitment to "accelerate progress on topics that help protect people and the planet," the company states—now and for the next 75 years, and beyond.
ELC will continue to value and promote inclusion, diversity, and equity for all, while working toward reaching its sustainable packaging goals, which include:
- By 2025, 75-100% of ELC's packaging will be "recyclable, refillable, reusable, recycled or recoverable."
- The amount of post-consumer recycled (PCR) material in ELC's packaging will increase by up to 50% (from 2019) by 2025.
- 100% of its forest-based fiber cartons will be FSC certified by 2025.
Advancing Its Sustainable Mission
ELC continually enforces its sustainable practices across the value chain, leveraging the expertise of its brands.Last year, for example, Aveda's team took sustainable packaging to the next level with its Nutriplenish haircare launch. The PCR packaging is a vibrant, on-trend color—a first for the brand, and beauty industry.
This year, Aveda named its first-ever Global Advocate for Sustainability—and ELC announced game-changing sustainability goals for travel retail.
Just a few weeks ago, ELC announced it is partnering with Eastman to utilize its molecular recycling technologies, and its portfolio of Renew resins, which contain up to 100% certified recycled content.
Fabrizio Freda, president and CEO, states:
"At The Estée Lauder Companies, our success is deeply rooted in our core values and the positive impact we have on our employees, our communities and the planet. Beauty Inspired, Values Driven is our promise to accelerate progress in these areas of strategic importance in order to continue delivering long-term, sustainable growth."
