Skin care devices, including wands, brushes, and masks that incorporate LED light therapy, have gone mainstream—and their popularity continues to rise. Beauty influencers and celebrities are fueling the trend and raving about the benefits. Carey Mulligan had 'glowing Oscars skin,' attributed to an LED mask.
LED therapy can boost collagen production and neutralize enzymes that cause the breakdown of collagen.
Dr. Dennis Gross, who created the DRx SpectraLite FaceWare Pro mask, explains to the Washington Post, "Blue light is known to kill bacteria on the epidermis, the outer layer of the skin, which is why it's often used to treat acne," Gross said. "The red light, a longer wavelength, goes deeper into the skin and reduces inflammation."
Vanity Planet just launched the LEDA Face Brush, and it is available with red or blue LED lights. "It's a multi-purpose tool that takes skin care to the next level," the brand states, adding, "LED facial brush integration is the next innovation in cleansing, allowing at home esthetician-quality treatments."
The silicone brush has sonic-powered antibacterial bristles to deliver a deep-cleansing massage.
LEDA Red reaches the upper layer of the skin to reverse the signs of aging, especially fine lines and wrinkles, the brand says. LEDA Blue penetrates the upper layer of the dermis, limiting sebaceous gland activity for less oil production and a clear complexion.
Vanity Planet is already known for its other types of beauty devices, such as the Fria skincare fridge and Aira facial steamer. The company has sold over 3 million facial brushes globally—and now plans the same success for its next-gen brushes that incorporate LED light therapy.
