Wellow, an indie deodorant brand born on Kickstarter, launched its online store in February—and has expanded to offer refills, kits, shampoo bars, conditioner bars, and body wash bars.
The brand reached its Kickstarter goal last October with 794 backers raising $32,900. Wellow continues to send its backers surveys and new prototypes—and the feedback from users helps to influence product development.
Wellow deodorant is in a paper tube, made with 95% recycled paper. The tube uses plant-based inks and a water-soluble adhesive to make it easy to recycle. The package is both recyclable and compostable. It ships in an eco-friendly paper mailer.
The clean formula doesn't contain aluminum, parabens, or sulfates.
How does the paper tube work to dispense the product? Users must push the deodorant stick up from the bottom of the tube.
Wellow says it is developing a full line is self-care products designed to help keep oceans free from plastic.
Company co-founder Dan Hernden tells Treehugger that Wellow wants to make sustainable living as easy as possible: "It can be simple, affordable, effective — even kind of fun."
