Paco Rabanne has launched Phantom—a futuristic aromatic fragrance born from the clash between luxury craftmanship and new-tech.
Phantom was conceived by a team of perfumers—Loc Dong, Juliette Karagueuzoglou, Dominique Ropion and Anne Flipo—who were assisted by A.I, combined with neuroscience. The ingredients and the way they’re combined were selected because neuroscientists have demonstrated they can activate brain areas associated to seduction, alertness and energy. It’s the first time ever a fragrance was designed that way by Paco Rabanne.
Utilizing Augmented Creativity to Design the Scent
Augmented Creativity allowed the perfumers to reach beyond their know-how and artistic sensibility, to experiment with unexpected scent pairings, and to select the exact ingredients that stimulate sensations of sexiness, confidence and energy; and fine-tune their dosages.
With Phantom, every aspect of perfume creation was reinvented by next-generation technologies developed for IFF. Perfumers entered the formulas they were working on, and the algorithm suggested novel combinations or dosages that would intensify the desired emotion effects.
Phantom features notes of creamy lavender, energizing lemon, and woody vanilla—notes designed to boost sexiness, confidence and energy. The secret ingredient boosting the energy of the lemon accord is a “vintage” molecule: styrallyl acetate. Scientific measures show that its radiant green fruity facets activate a sense of energy.
The First Connected Fragrance
The Phantom bottle is a retro-futurist piece of visionary design, but the shiny silver robot-shaped bottle is more than that. It’s also the first connected bottle, turning that shiny silver robot into your “wingman.”
A contactless communication NFC chip is embedded in the spray caps of the 100 ml and 150 ml bottles. Just touch Phantom’s head with your smartphone to connect to the Phantom universe, featuring exclusive content curated by Paco Rabanne: interactive filters, personalized playlists, augmented reality, interactive games and more.
Phantom is available at Macy’s, Ulta, Sephora, Nordstrom, Dillards, and Bloomingdales.
