The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) announced that Clinique is the first prestige beauty brand to advance the use of a new type of sustainable luxury packaging—bottles made using an innovative molding technology developed by Roctool.
Clinique Clarifying Lotion, an iconic product debuted in 1968, will be the first ELC brand to implement Roctool’s unique molding technology for its 200 ml bottle.
The supplier's heat and cool surface technology is a cutting-edge process applied to multiple manufacturing methods. Roctool's technology eliminates the need for a secondary decoration process since it provides significant enhancements to surface finishes, without requiring additional decorating steps.
Innovations in technology play a key role in elevating luxury packaging offerings, ELC stated in a press release. Roctool's process supports a more responsible and simplified packaging approach. It also reduces scrap by 10% to 15% during production.
Daniel Ramos, Senior Vice President, Global Packaging, The Estée Lauder Companies, says, “At The Estée Lauder Companies, we’re continually investing and innovating at every step of our packaging process to help drive more responsible packaging solutions that enable our brands to deliver high-quality, luxury experiences...We’re working with industry partners like Roctool to help to improve our packaging design."
Ramos continues, "From there, we’re leveraging our portfolio of brands to implement these best-in-class practices at scale to be part of the solution and deliver packaging innovations that are better for both our consumers and the planet."
Mathieu Boulanger, CEO, Roctool, comments, “When we entered the world of beauty a few years back, we could sense the importance of developing more responsible packaging solutions with our molding technology. Today, we are proud to work with The Estée Lauder Companies and Clinique to support their efforts in innovation and sustainability."
