As a recipient of the Charles Evans Award at Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation’s 12th Annual Fall Symposium and Luncheon on October 28th, Arkay’s third generation Chairman/CEO, Mitchell Kaneff, proudly announced that over $1.2 million in donations had been raised for this event.
Mitchell Kaneff and his father, Howard Kaneff, Arkay’s Chairman Emeritus, were honored to be the recipients of this award for their leadership in support of the prevention, treatment and cure of Alzheimer’s disease.
Mitchell’s mother, Cherry Kaneff, passed away from Alzheimer’s three years ago and Mitchell’s father, who was married to Cherry for 60 years, continues to miss his beloved wife every day.
“When I heard that both Ronald and Leonard (Lauder) were basically funding all the ‘back office’ expenses of a philanthropic effort,” Mitchell says in the video, “and that all the money being raised was going to help support ways to slow down, prevent, and cure this horrible disease called Alzheimer’s, I said: ‘How can I get more involved?’ ”
The event was particularly resonant for father and son as they prepare to celebrate their company’s Centennial in 2022.
