A conference at Luxe Pack New York focused on printing technologies, and featured experts who specialize in brand protection, smart packaging, and digital packaging solutions.
The speakers were Jessica Wirka, brand protection director, Authentix, North America (shown above, left); Tom Baran, CEO, Fathom Optics (shown above, right); Theresa Patton, senior marketing manager for Packaging, Avient Corporation; and Peter Possenti, Image Specialist Harry’s Inc. with Vicki Blake, VP Business Development ICS Color.
Authentix's Wirka spoke about 'connected products' and smart packaging, and explained the various ways to use digital printing on a package. She spoke about how to use QR codes more effectively as an anti-counterfeit measure.
Fathom's Baran showcased 3D graphics for packaging. “We have a way of taking existing printing presses, materials, substrates—things currently used—and we adapt them to create premium artwork and unique designs," he said.
The team at ICS Color spoke about its monitor-based digital color proofing solution. Blake explained the many issues with using hard copy proofs as an alternative—and why digital tools are more productive. They offer time-saving, cost-saving, and eco-friendly benefits.
