In 1922, Max Kaneff, an immigrant from Russia, opened the doors of his facility on the Lower East Side of New York City, calling it Ar-kay Printing. One hundred years later, after some notable transformations—including a design studio in Hauppauge, NY, and a manufacturing facility in Roanoke, VA—Arkay now celebrates its remarkable Centennial milestone.
Over the years, Arkay has withstood the vagaries of the world around it, including two World Wars, the Great Depression, the Great Recession, and the recent—and ongoing—COVID-19 pandemic. Through it all, Arkay has remained at the pinnacle of success and quality, an inspiration to its employees and customers.
Today Arkay is proud, not only of its longevity, but of its ability to grow and change while consistently maintaining its core allegiance to its consumers, the quality of its products, and its culture of excellence, innovation and sustainability.
Arkay’s third-generation CEO, Mitchell Kaneff, states, “My grandfather, Max Kaneff, began Arkay in 1922 with a vision of greatness and a dedication to success in his adopted land. My father, Howard Kaneff, not only maintained that vision, but improved upon it. And now, as I look at my sons and a possible fourth generation of Kaneff leaders at Arkay, I am filled with pride at this wonderful company and its enduring legacy of artisanship and service.”
Kaneff’s vision looks toward Arkay’s next 100 years, as he continues to realize the dream his grandfather had so long ago when he walked onto the floor of his company at 27 Thames Street in New York City.
