Here are highlights from Trendalytics' April 2022 report.
Effortless Natural Makeup
Women are gravitating toward effortless “French girl beauty” as the natural look continues to gain popularity. An emerging trend to watch, searches for French skincare are +25% compared to last year.What types of makeup does this include? Flushed cheeks and tinted lips.
Blush tints (+29% to LY) and blush palettes (+11% to LY) are emerging trends, while hydrating lipsticks (+1,326% to LY) and lip stains (+52% to LY) are safe bets.
Graphic Eyes
Eyeliner is also popular. The latest graphic eyeliner (+61% to LY) look to gain popularity is fishtail eyeliner (+570% to LY). The double-liner look features a flick on the upper and lower lash line. Bella Hadid and HBO’s “Euphoria's” characters have popularized the trend.Other experimental liner looks include safe bets like eyeliner stickers (+117% to LY), under-eye liner (+59% to LY), and metallic eyeliner (+53% to LY).
Hair
Hair is taking priority this spring. Hair oiling (+15% to LY), a practice featured in Netflix's "Bridgerton" Season 2 and a centuries-old beauty ritual native to India, boosts moisture, shine, and overall hair health.Hair pomade (+11% to LY), hair mousse (+12% to LY), and hair serum (+7% to LY) are emerging trends to watch.
