Perfumers, designers, beauty marketers, and celebrities walked the red carpet on Thursday, June 15th, at The Fragrance Foundation (TFF) 2023 Awards at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City.
It was TFF's largest event to date, with a record high of 900 attendees to mark the event's 50th anniversary. The global fragrance industry celebrated outstanding achievements across 14 categories and two honorees.
Attendees were greeted in the lobby by a custom fragrance created for the event by the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Perfumer Anne Flipo, which she named La Jardin de St Jose after the gardens where she lives in France.
Once inside the theater, Jerry Vittoria, executive committee chairman of TFF and president of Fine Fragrance at DSM-Firmenich kicked off the evening along with TFF's president Linda G. Levy, who underlined the Foundation’s commitment and mission to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion within every facet of fragrance creation.
A highlight of the night was when Cate Blanchett presented the Hall of Fame Award to Nicolas Hieronimus, chief executive officer of L’Oréal. Other presenters included Misty Copeland, Diane Kruger, Keke Palmer, Vera Wang, Jason Wu, Wes Gordon, Sergio Hudson, Francisco Costa, Zaya, Malaika Jones, Tai Beauchamp, and Carlos Huber. After the awards were announced, guests enjoyed a seated dinner in the Promenade.
The fragrance industry has many reasons to celebrate, as sales are rising. Circana reports a surging men’s prestige fragrance market, with a growing demand for gift sets and minis.
This year's Fragrance Foundation Award winners include Packaging of the Year, Indie Fragrance of the Year, Innovative Product categories—and more.
The team at Puig scored big in Packaging—with wins in both Packaging of the Year categories, Luxury and Prestige/Popular. Puig reported a 40% growth in net revenue to over $3.9 billion in 2022, and recently acquired a majority stake in Byredo.
