The Penthouse Group’s partner Yukigaya Chemical Industry was recently honored in Japan. Mr. Noboru Sakamoto, President, received the 7th SDGS Award from the Japan Prime Minister on December 19, 2023. This award was established to promote the efforts of companies and organizations to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is the first time that a private company has received the Cabinet Secretary’s Award.
In 2020, Yukigaya Group took their Corporate Social Responsibility activities one step further and adopted SDGs as the guideline for Corporate Management. The organization initiated the “Yukigaya Sustainable Challenge of 2030” to transform the company by changing products, methods and practices to align with this initiative.
The two new products that launched under this initiative include Tecora and NR-FT.
Tecora is a hybrid urethane foam that is mixed with 40% renewable plant derived raw materials. CO2 emissions are thus reduced by 36.1%.
NR-FT is an exclusive 100% fair trade natural rubber sponge. Fair Trade certified confirms that sourcing practices include zero child or indentured labor. Additionally, the latex allergen is removed via their unique technology. The Fair Trade Natural Rubber logo is available to other companies who follow strict certification practices.
