Commissioned by Galderma, the NEXT report is based on research and comprehensive data, co-developed by a network of 40 of the world’s leading healthcare professionals and beauty influencers. NEXT identifies six key trends and three micro trends that have the potential to shape the aesthetic landscape.
NEXT by Galderma’s six anticipated trends:
- Proactive Beauty: products that address aging before it is apparent or becomes paramount. With the rise of “prejuvenation” treatments. Consumers are focusing on preventions rather than cures causing a shift towards early intervention products.
- Mindful Aesthetics: the ethos of mindful beauty. Customers are embracing products that have a minimal environmental impact and align with ethical values. Customers also support products that provide natural-looking results.
- Fast Aesthetics: More consumers are following aesthetics that mimic the latest fast-moving trends.
- Beauty Fandom: This trend focuses on the niche idolization that is seen in the aesthetics world today. Many consumers are developing an idolization of cultural icons, digital filters, anime and more which is leading to a desire for metamorphosis.
- Expressionality: This trend shows a greater interplay between the sense of self and self-expression and empowerment that comes from creating and enhancing one’s identity with aesthetics.
- Cancelling Age: Today beauty is designed for every and any age. Companies are canceling expectations of what particular ages “should look like.” Customers are embracing an ageless attitude developing a trend that reflects the desire to not be defined by our age.
These six trends are underpinned by three macro movements:
- Social community: social media has increased consumer awareness and understanding of aesthetic treatments. Social media acts as a tool to gather followers and gain an influence around different aesthetics.
- Increasing availability: The rise of minimally invasive treatments and new clinic locations have reshaped the beauty industry, resulting in a desire for inclusivity in the world of aesthetics.
- Advancements in science and technology: New product innovations and aesthetic tech have increased the appeal of these types of products.
