B.I. Industrial, a perfume glass bottle solutions provider, has installed new solar panels at its glass bottle and plastic cap factory in Zhejiang province, China. This unit consists of two plastic factories that are equipped with 125 injection presses and four blowing lines.
Once fully operational, the ballasted solar power system will be 100% sustainable, producing carbon-free electricity in the 25,000 m2 facility. The panels are expected to generate roughly 1.2 million kWh of clean energy per year, reducing the plant’s greenhouse gas emission by about 20%.
This $1 million investment is part of a broader strategy to become a truly green company. B.I. Industrial will also adapt an existing furnace, that produces 85 tons per day and consumes less energy by using natural gas. The construction of a new furnace should be completed by the end of 2025 with a daily capacity of 120 tons.
B.I. Industrial integrates a large portion of recycled glass into its production process and uses sustainable materials such as glass, aluminum, or PLA. Its production process complies with FDA, REACH Compliance and Heavy Metals certifications.
Managing director Davin Chen commented, “We have big ambitions to fight climate change and achieve net zero emissions by 2050. To achieve these goals, we are always on the lookout for new sources of savings on our industrial processes and new renewable energy source implementation opportunities to decarbonize and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.”
