Evolved by Nature, a sustainable biotechnology company, has partnered with Barentz to distribute its natural, bioactive peptide ingredients to the personal care and beauty markets. Products will be distributed throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Activated Silk 33B-alpha is the first ingredient in Evolved by Nature’s portfolio to be commercially available. Activated Silk 33B-alpha is a skin barrier-boosting bioactive designed to advance the appearance of healthy skin. This ingredient hopes to replace synthetic and petrochemical skincare ingredients.
Activated Silk 33B-alpha is meant to support the natural production of claudin—a chemical that binds healthy skin barrier together. The ingredient has been clinically proven to show healthier, younger-looking skin, and reduced appearance of fine lines, irritation and redness.
This has also been designed to work in high sheer, soap-based and water-based low viscosity formulas where other barrier ingredients could not be incorporated.
"At Evolved By Nature, we understand that biotechnology is very exciting to the skincare, personal care and cosmetics industries – but that it's also looked at with some hesitation,” said Evolved by Nature CEO, Greg Altman. “Biotech often engineers natural look-alike ingredients, which don't meet consumer demand for truly effective and sustainable ingredients. The innovations themselves are also often many years away from market scale. We're proud to have developed a platform of natural ingredients using biotechnology to harvest the power of nature rather than attempting to mimic it in biosynthetic ways.”
Activated Silk 33B-alpha is supported by data that shows a union of natural, sustainable ingredient innovation and science-backed biotechnology.
Activated Silk contains natural and biodegradable peptides that are renewably sourced from upcycled silk protein and are supportive of 8 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
"Our team of scientists and executives are meticulously researching gaps in the market with consumer demand, and Evolved by Nature's Activated Silk 33B-alpha fills a white space, especially in the beauty and personal care market," commented president of Barentz CARE, Walter Marsh.
