The beauty industry feels a void as former president of Estée Lauder North America, Janet Allard Cook passed away. She passed at her home in St. Petersburg, FL at 77.
Cook began her career as a Clinique beauty advisor. Clinique founder Carol Phillips helped Cook ascend the ranks of the company serving for both the U.S. and International divisions of the company.
Cook was tenured at Estée Lauder Companies as the newly created position of president of North America, Estée Lauder Inc. As president, she oversaw brand activities in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. Cook fueled company growth and served as a mentor to many.
While at ELC Cook earned her MBA from Harvard University and she retired from ELC in 2004.
Even after leaving Estée Lauder Companies, Cook supported philanthropic foundations including the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and the Clean Water Foundation. She raised over $1.7 million for charities which helped raise awareness and mobilize resources.
Cook and her late husband also helped develop a "young Aveda Florida team" and the Be Aveda Institutes of Florida.
Cook is survived by five stepchildren, multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
