Unilever recently announced that it will move its U.S. headquarters from Englewood Cliffs to Hoboken. SJP Properties owns the new building which is a waterfront building on River St.
Although the new three-floor lease is 111,000 square feet and smaller than the current headquarters, Unilever hopes to take advantage of the large labor pool in the Hoboken area.
SVP Leasing and Development at SJP, Alexander Erdos, commented,
“Unilever made a strategic decision to relocate their North American headquarters to the New Jersey waterfront from Englewood Cliffs to gain a competitive edge in accessing the vast labor pool in New York City and the surrounding metro area while retaining existing talent with easy access to Bergen County.”
The move is planned for March 2025. The company will remain in some capacity at Englewood Cliffs, maintaining offices in both cities.
At the Hoboken Waterfront Corporate Center, Unilever joins other large consumer goods companies such as Newell Brands, Walmart, and Lipton.
This move comes seven years after Unilever renovated its 325,000-square-foot office in Englewood Cliffs, which opened in May 2018.
SJP Project Solutions will serve as the project and construction manager and provide a custom buildout for Unilever’s renovations to the Hoboken office space.
