L’Oréal has partnered with Abolis Biotechnologies and Evonik to develop and manufacture new innovative and sustainable biotech-based ingredients. These ingredients are created from renewable sources rather than synthetically engineered from pollution-heavy processes.
The ingredients made from this agreement will be used in beauty and skincare products, and beyond.
The agreement will enable purpose-made, sustainable ingredients to be produced at the scale needed to satisfy the global demand for responsible beauty. It will also accelerate the Groupe’s L’Oréal for the Future Sustainability commitments that prioritize bio-based ingredients in its beauty formulations.
L'Oréal's research, innovation, and technology deputy CEO Barbara Lavernos, said,
“By mobilizing our respective companies’ research, innovation, and manufacturing capabilities and expertise, we are building an end-to-end value chain that we believe has tremendous potential to be a game-changer in bio-based ingredients for beauty.”
These ingredients will help lower waste and energy consumption, help globally reduce carbon pollution, conserve natural resources, and encourage the use of eco-friendly beauty alternatives.
