Avon International presented Aptar Beauty, the global leader in dispensing systems, with the ‘Partner beyond Limits’ supplier award in the Commitment for Life category.
In a collaborative effort with Avon, Aptar’s Micro airless packaging was redesigned for reduced environmental impact and lower carbon emissions, mainly by changing the decoration technique and integrating recycled materials.
Aptar Beauty’s existing Mirco airless packaging was adapted for Avon’s Anew Clinical Anti-Wrinkle Smoothing Serum into our Micro Eco alternative. This resulted in the replacement of the raw materials used to an average of 44% Post-Consumer Recycled Resin (PCR), and the removal of the silver hot stamping to improve recyclability.
Domenico Sardaro, Key Account Manager, Aptar Beauty, EMEA, said,
“With the support of Aptar Beauty’s Product Sustainability Director Bénédicte Luisi and her team, we calculated the LCA of both solutions and showed the benefits to the customer. It is a perfect example of how a sustainable transformation can also bring monetary savings. I would like to thank Avon for their courage and willingness to see this through and to everyone involved, including the Villingen supply chain who helped us to launch this product on time,”
Micro Eco has a reduced carbon footprint (CO2eq) of 27.6%, using Aptar Beauty’s internal Eco-design tool, developed in collaboration with software house Sphera. By removing the hot stamping, Avon was able to benefit from cost savings on the overall package.
Avon launched the award program last year to motivate their suppliers to ‘Dare to be Great.’ The program aims to foster resilience and agility in market challenges, enhance value, and share innovation.
Marta Gwiazda-Suchenia, Head of Procurement, Avon Europe & NA, commented,
“This award is for doing good for the planet by increasing PCR content and reducing cost at the same time. This is what need from our valued partners: to make sustainability for everybody, and not just the wealthy population.”
The award was presented at Avon International’s Supplier Day event held in Warsaw, Poland, attended by Aptar’s KAM Domenico Sardaro and VP of Global Accounts Ryan Kenny.
