Beauty professionals have always been inspired by art and history. And now, 108 works of art, some dating back 10,000 years, are included in a giuded tour opening today at the Louvre Museum in Paris.
Created by the Louvre with the collaboration of the L’Oréal Groupe's Art, Culture & Heritage Department, "De toutes beautés!" which translates to "Of All Beauties,” showcases art featuring "beauty gestures, rituals, and idealized visions of beauty," as presented by artists throughout history.
The exhibit aims to inspire new perspectives on the diversity of beauty by encouraging inclusion and tolerance across cultures, civilizations, and eras. "De toutes beautés!" aims to make us think about how beauty was represented at various times in different societies—and question how the meaning of beauty has changed throughout our history.
L’Oréal Groupe is beginning a three-year partnership with the Louvre. "The Louvre is a sanctuary for the discerning eye, providing a unique insight into world history and the diversity of beauty," says Laurence des Cars, president and director of the Louvre Museum. "Partnering with L’Oréal’s expertise in beauty has allowed us to provide visitors with new insights on and a broader perspective of the museum’s collections with new audiences.”
Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L'Oréal Groupe, comments, "At the heart of our purpose ‘to create the beauty that moves the world’, lies the desire to make beauty accessible to all—and tell the story of beauty’s diverse and enduring role since the dawn of time. This is what has driven us to explore new partnerships...The Louvre was an obvious choice, given the richness and diversity of its collections and its ability to shed light on even the most contemporary of questions.”
