Risdon-AMS Manufactures Components for Calvin Klein’s Truth Calvin Klein chose Risdon-AMS to produce caps and pumps for the designer’s new women’s fragrance—Truth Calvin Klein. The fragrance was designed to evoke modern simplicity with a touch of sensuality, which is accented by the distinctive curve of the bottle and outer packaging. The bottle was designed by Fabien Baron and stands at a slight tilt with a soft rounded back. The cap imitates the rest of the bottle—a flat front side and curved back. The cap is electroplated in silver-white bronze for a shiny silver look. The inner cap is molded to fit to the pump collar. Risdon-AMS produced caps and pumps for 30-, 50- and 100ml sizes in addition to a 4ml splash size. Using Risdon-AMS’ Crimpless System, the pump matches the color of the cap and offers a low profile dispenser with low actuation force. The caps were manufactured in Risdon-AMS’ Marolles, France facility and the pumps were made in the Thomaston, CT plant. “The unusual package design for Truth Calvin Klein is meant to enhance the customer’s total experience of the product,” said Dennis Desrochers, vice president, marketing and sales, Risdon-AMS. “This close relationship between product and package calls for packaging technology that is both inventive and reliable.” |

Small Diameter Collars Produced by Risdon-AMS The new Crimpless System with Small Outside Diameter collars (SOD/TCS) created by Watertown, CT-based Risdon-AMS, allows packages with existing crimped pumps and fashion collars to minimize the design envelope required beneath the cap. This encourages easy adaptation of The Crimpless System to packages, cost-saving benefits and often no change in cap tooling. “Our 15 and 17/18mm The Crimpless System pumps were designed with the diameter of the fashion collar slightly larger than the average diameter of collars traditionally used for crimped pumps,” said Vin Raby, vice president, global pump products and technology. “We have now reduced that diameter to make it more compatible with collars that would be used for crimped pumps.” The new diameters for the classic outer diameter are 17.95mm and 19.32mm for the 15- and 17mm sizes respectively. The SOD dimensions are 17.25mm and 18.90mm. |
